In 1992, I embarked on a journey as a caregiver for a child diagnosed with Spina Bifida. This experience offered me profound insights into the challenges faced by individuals with physical disabilities. Then, in 2010, I assumed the role of business manager for an artist living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a type of Muscular Dystrophy. Despite his limited mobility, this remarkable artist utilized his left index finger to create stunning artwork using a computer. One notable piece, a portrait of the first family, graced the walls of the White House for four years before finding a permanent home in President Obama’s residence in Washington D.C.

Witnessing the daily struggles endured by the artist and his family, particularly his mother’s unwavering dedication to his care, deeply moved me. Inspired by their resilience and determination, I founded The No White Flags Project in 2019. This initiative is a testament to my unwavering commitment to empowering individuals with physical challenges, offering them the opportunity to experience a sense of independence and dignity.

Our board here at The No White Flags Project is composed of individuals with varied backgrounds and experiences, and I welcome their ideas wholeheartedly. I firmly believe that building a nonprofit requires a team of passionate individuals dedicated to our mission. Acknowledging that I can’t do it all alone is a positive realization, as it allows us to harness the collective energy and expertise of our team.
